We are a wood importer in Vietnam with a standing monthly requirement for Ekki / Azobe logs from Nigeria.
We buy on a regular monthly volume — container by container, with long-term supply strongly preferred over one-off spot lots. Ekki, or azobe, is imported into Vietnam for the most punishing marine and civil engineering applications.

What we use Ekki / Azobe for in Vietnam: Ekki, or azobe, is imported into Vietnam for the most punishing marine and civil engineering applications. Port authorities and contractors use it for lock gates, wharf decking, fender systems, groynes and piling wales because few commercial timbers survive seawater and marine borers as long. Inland, ekki serves bridge decks, railway sleepers, heavy stair structures and industrial floors under forklift traffic. Resort developers occasionally choose it for permanent boardwalks through mangrove and beachfront terrain. Vietnamese buyers order sawn baulks, decking planks and sleepers, almost always shipped air-dried, and plan machining around its extreme density. One of the heaviest and hardest African timbers, with dark red-brown heartwood and coarse, interlocked grain. Exceptionally durable in ground, freshwater and marine exposure. Sawing and drilling demand powerful equipment; predrilling for fixings is essential.
Shipping from Nigeria: cargo typically loads at Lagos (Apapa/Tin Can). Nigeria restricts raw log exports, so trade centers on sawn and processed hardwood plus plantation teak and gmelina. Port congestion at Apapa and Tin Can is chronic; factor delays into schedules. Vet exporters thoroughly, insist on export permits and phytosanitary certificates, and use secure payment terms.
